After returning from their space adventure, the Metal Men face a new crisis when Dr. Magnus is exposed to cosmic rays during a meteor collision. Magnus begins transforming into metal, and his personality changes dramatically, becoming cold and callous toward his robotic creations. The altered Magnus creates a new team called the Gas Gang to replace the Metal Men, forcing the original team to fight for their survival against both their creator and his dangerous new robots.
