Nexus' dreams take him to the planet Chernenko, where the remains of the old Soviet government have relocated. Nexus' quarry is the current head of the Soviet Military known as The Old General. Nexus has learned from his dreams that The General is over 600 years old and has killed legions of people in service to the state. The General survives by switching his mind into clone bodies shortly before the old ones die. Nexus destroys The General after he has switched into his new body, earning the animosity of the people of Chernenko, and the wrath of the surviving Sov leaders, all of whom have survived since the twentieth century. Nexus returns to Ylum and meets in secret with Dr. Xyp, receiving an implant that suppresses his dreams. 8 page Sundra Peale backup story, Bending The Twig: by Baron and Shanower
