Marv Wolfman, creator of Marvel's Blade (and future co-creator and writer on The New Teen Titans!) heads an "all-star" creative team including Dave Cockrum (Legion of Super-Heroes and X-Men artist), Klaus Janson (inker on The Defenders and Daredevil); along with John Costanza and Marie Severin. Edited by Jim Shooter. Adapting the Harold Livingston screenplay, based on a story by Alan Dean Foster (Splinter of the Mind's Eye and Black Hole) and series creator Gene Roddenberry. With Mr. Spock now aboard the Enterprise, the Vulcan assists Mr. Scott in balancing the engines to achieve warp drive to intercept the unidentified alien on course for Earth! Spock also discovers the alien has been sending a message using radio signal! Can the Enterprise find a way to respond in time - - before it's too late?!
