How this list is made
Each price is the typical raw asking price for the standard cover: the median of the cheaper half of matching listings, or the lowest ask when there are fewer than five. Graded copies, variants, lots and reprints are left out, so a single expensive slab cannot push a book up the list. Asking prices are what sellers want, not what books sold for. How prices work.
Why these books?
Almost every book at the top is a key issue: a first appearance, an origin or a landmark cover, usually from the Golden or Silver Age when print runs were small and few copies survived in good shape. Graded copies of the same books sell for far more, especially in high grade. Open any issue to see its price for every grade.
